The First Kish International Film Festival ended on Thursday evening in the Persian Gulf island of Kish after awarding top works.
BENA- The closing ceremony was attended by several arts and cultural officials, including Presidential Advisor Esfandiar Rahim Mashai.
Addressing the event, Rahim Mashai said, ''Cinema, as a significant branch of art, helps introduce the profound Iranian culture to the world.''
He called on the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance to extend support to artists to enter competitions.
‘The Blue Silk Road’ was selected the best film award in the festival’s Iranian cinema competition section. It gave Mohammad Bozorgnia the best director award in this section. The film tells the story of the first sailor who crossed the Indian Ocean to China.
The best director award went to Ebrahim Foruzesh for ‘Hamoun and Darya’.
In the International Section, ‘Son of Babylon’ by Mohamed Al-Daradji (Iraq) was chosen the best film. And, Nosir Saidov was received the best director for “True Noon” (Tajikistan).
Thirty-four Asian and Middle Eastern countries including Turkey, India, Kyrgyzstan, Iraq, Qatar, Russia and China participated in the gala under the motto ‘Cultural Heritage, Joint Future’.
The festival was held on the Persian Gulf island from April 24-28.
Other programs in the festival included tributes to veteran actor Ali Nasirian and directors Massud Jafari-Jozani and Farajollah Salahshour.
